Polish retail sales increase

Polish retail sales increased by 3.4 percent in August when compared to August 2012 according to the statistics office GUS.  This is much higher than many retail analysts had forecast.
This comes on top of increases in retail sales in July.  Much of this increase is in food and beverages.

According to Eurostat, search the unemployment rate in the EU was 10.4 percent in June 2012 which is the same as in May 2012 but an increase when compared to June 2011 when it was 9.5 percent. 
 
Eurostat estimates that 25.1m people in the EU are unemployed.

Inflation up in Poland

Polish inflation increased to 4.3 percent in June, find this is an increase of 0.2 percent when compared to the figure for May. At the same time unemployment has fallen below 12.4 percent.

Food sales fall in the Czech Republic

Two reports suggested little to no growth in the Czech Republic for this year from the OECD and analysts BMI.  BMI has forecast GDP growth of 0.1% in 2012, mind down from 1.7% in 2011.
