The IMF forecast yesterday that the Lithuanian GDP is likely to grow by 2.7 percent this year and three percent in 2013.  A forecast made six months ago was not so optimistic.

European unemployment increases – although situation improving in Baltic States

According to Eurostat, search the unemployment rate in the EU was 10.4 percent in June 2012 which is the same as in May 2012 but an increase when compared to June 2011 when it was 9.5 percent. 
 
Eurostat estimates that 25.1m people in the EU are unemployed.

World Bank sees mixed picture across CEE region

In a recent report the World Bank forecasts mixed results across the CEE region.  It sees growth in Poland (2.9 percent), purchase followed by Latvia and Lithuania (2.3 percent) and Slovakia (2.1 percent).  Nonetheless Croatia will contract by one percent, Hungary by 0.4 percent and Slovenia by 1.2 percent.
