St Valentine’s Day seems to be an increasing business opportunity, especially for packaging producers.  According to Polish daily Rzeczpospolita, 68 percent of those questioned spent up to EUR12 on presents and 22 percent over EUR24.

In Poland around PLN1bn (EUR240m) was spent.  That is still less than is spent on 1 November for All Saints’ Day however the trend is clearly growing upwards especially due to social pressures caused by advertising to spend more.  In the USA the market is worth around USD17.3bn and this year noted less money being spent than in 2013.  The average present cost USD133.90 this year.  In the UK, the largest market in Europe, around GBP1.5bn was spent this year.
