Hungary acting against fake medicines sold over the internet
The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) performed mystery shopping transactions and had the products purchased tested by the National Institute for Quality and Organizational Development in Healthcare and Medicines (GYEMSZI). All the medicines purchased online proved to be either counterfeit or illegal (distributed by an entity not in possession of a license for their active pharmaceutical ingredient). The products included potency enhancers and weight loss pills. All of them were accompanied by foreign-language leaflets only.
GYEMSZI has filed complaints against the operators of the web sites and moved for them to be shut down.
