17 Sep 2012

S&R Foods has started producing a range of meals for Quorn in Tikka Masala and Mexican Chilli varieties using a Swedish packaging technique which is for microwave preparation.

?This innovative food packaging format has both enhanced the quality and the shelf-life of the Quorn ready meals, search whilst remaining free from preservatives. Since launch the products have been received very well by the consumer and Quorn are currently looking to launch into more retailers with more recipes later this year??, claims Asad Hussain, Director at S&R Foods.

?We are very proud that Quorn are using our unique MicVac method to secure the highest quality of their premium Quorn ?Chef?s Selection? product range?, says H?kan Pettersson, Managing Director at MicVac AB.

Using the unique in-pack microwave cooking and pasteurisation method the final product will have an improved taste, quality and nutritional values with a longer shelf life (without the need for preservatives). For the consumer, there is easy handling as you just have to place the meal in the microwave oven, don?t pierce the film and the valve makes a whistling sound when it reaches eating temperature.

Quorn launched in the UK in 1995, and the brand offers a wide range of meat-alternative products, made using the proprietary technology of Mycoprotein. It delivers the taste and texture of meat to the people who want to reduce their meat consumption and who still want to eat a normal, healthy diet.
